Pilsdon Community
50th Anniversary
Indulging
in a little nostalgia
On the 19th October 2008 The Pilsdon Community celebrated
its half-centenary. Gaynor Smith, founder and many of her family and friends
were able to join us for the celebrations.
At noon there was a Eucharist led by present warden, Jonathan Herbert during
which Gaynor and past wardens Stuart Affleck and Peter Barnett, friends, guests
and occasional visitors were able to share their memories with the congregation.
This was followed by a lunch (backed with musical entertainment) served for
300 from marquees on the front lawn. During the afternoon people were able
to browse the extensive archives of photographs, newsletters and other correspondence
and newspaper cuttings recording life at Pilsdon from 1958 to the present
day; a recording of television programmes, about our Community, first shown
in the mid-sixties and the mid-eighties provoked many conversations.
A TRULY JOYOUS OCCASION
