Accommodation It is now over 50 years since the Community was founded and we have raised subtantial funds to improve our existing accommodation and convert the east wing to increase the number of single room accommodation we provide. Plans to provide 17 en-suite bedrooms, together with space for leisure and training rooms and a 3-bedroom family flat have been approved and the building work has been virtually completed. The beautiful character of the courtyard will remain but the internal layout will suit modern needs.
Carbon Footprint The Community intends to become increasingly self-sustaining and to reduce its carbon footprint. We have incorporated a wood burning boiler, high-performance solar panels, a rain-harvesting system, high levels of insulation, draught-proofing and double-glazing into the building.
YOUR DONATION COULD MAKE OUR DREAM ATTAINABLE Already we have gathered over £1.1 million. £861,000 of this awarded to us by government in April 2008. We still have to rebuild the loose-boxes on the west side of the yard, and it is planned to commence this work in early 2012. Unfortunately, the total of the funds raised so far will not allow us to undertake all the work that we would wish to. If you would like to contribute to the final phase of our appeal, please send your donation to The Administrator, The Pilsdon Community, Pilsdon, Bridport, Dorset DT6 5NZ. Please print this page and copy and sign one or both of the declarations below and enclose in your envelope with your donation. Please treat the enclosed donation as gift-aided. I understand that I must pay an amount of income tax or Capital Gains Tax at least equal to the tax that you will reclaim on my donation. Signed
I confirm that if, for any reason, the project does not proceed as envisaged, you may use my donation for any other purpose the Community may decide.
______________________________________________________ Signed A POST SCRIPT Land We have, for a period of years, hoped to buy land locally; currently we have 12 acres of land, used for pasture and growing crops. However, increased building costs have meant a shift in our priorities. Land purchase is now outside this appeal although we do hope for an opportunity to lease land. Access to additional land would mean we could grow sufficient hay and other crops to feed our animals through the winter months and ideally we would like - in partnership with the landowner - to plant trees, for timber production and to attract wildlife.
